The Young Brotha Who Made Samson a Hero..at last

Though raised in fear and admonition of the Lord, Samson lived to prove you eventually get caught by what you chase.

Boldly ignoring the guardrails of God’s Word, eventually got him arrested and sentenced to life in the Philistine State Prison.

Samson arrives not big and bad but bald, weak, and blind. You can just imagine the welcome treatment he got.

A young prisoner like the rest had heard of this Philistine Most Wanted and for whatever reason this young brotha decided not to kick a man when he’s down but help him. He helped protect Samson, leading him by the hand as Samson struggled with the reaping he had sowed.

Now, the Philistines leased Samson out for entertainment, showing him off as a trophy. Samson satisfied them by giving them a show…but always felt like you know.

This went on for a few years, lights, camera, state sponsored humiliation.

However, one Philistine Federal holiday, Samson was taken to an arena and brought out to perform as always. Though he had heard it all before this day the laughter and name calling seemed louder than before.

Samson looked toward the sound and imagined their faces. He was disgusted and enraged…at them and himself. Samson pushed aside his dreads noticing how long they had grown.

He asked the young brotha who had been by his side all this time to position him for his final act which was the original mandate of a charge to keep and a God to glorify.

As Samson began to tear this playhouse down, he sensed the young man still by him, frozen in shock and awe not to mention fear. He yells at his friend, Go! Thanks, man for all you’ve done for me. Run!

The Word never says but as Samson was dying, he may have prayed his young friend got out alive. As we must do for our young kings, taking care of their fathers, older brothers, uncles, cousins, friends etc. who’ve gotten off track and are stuck in a ditch.

These younger but wiser godsends help them; not always reminding them of what they’ve done to themselves like they don’t know. But these young kings remind their fathers, older brothers, uncles, cousins, friends, etc. of who and whose they still are a man made in the image of God.

May they be blessed throughout their lives for their love, compassion, and the wisdom of lessons learned while giving a helping hand.
